Sequences, resets, percentiles and a reporting currency

Five new ways to keep a running total: count what happens in order, start a window at a reset, read percentiles, add up several currencies, and get told when something stops.

  • Aggregations
  • Triggers

Some numbers are not a plain count or sum. These five additions cover the cases we kept meeting across industries, all set up in the workspace like any other running total.

  • Sequences. Count something only when something else happened before it, within a time you choose: a conversion within 7 days of a click, an order right after an address change.
  • Windows that start at a reset. A total since the last time something happened, such as spend since the last review or play since a bonus was granted.
  • Percentiles. Keep a distribution and ask for its 95th percentile, for example response times per customer against what you promised them.
  • A reporting currency. Sums kept per currency are added up in one currency at the rates you keep. A missing rate is reported, never guessed.
  • Triggers on silence. Get told when an expected event does not arrive in time, such as a device that stopped sending heartbeats or a cart that was never checked out.
